Matúš Nosko launched his startup before completing his bachelor's degree. Now aiming for perfection.

In the realm of smart homes and sustainable living, our student Matúš Nosko designed his own IoT ecosystem. His innovation connects various household devices, from pumps to solar panels, to create more intelligent and eco-friendly homes. With the support of the faculty, Matúš has founded a successful start-up, and his innovative approach has also become the topic of his bachelor's thesis. Read more here.

Associate professor Petr Hanáček was elected a candidate for appointment as dean of FIT BUT

On 31 October 2023 at the regular meeting of the Academic Senate of the FIT BUT, doc. Dr. Ing. Petr Hanáček was elected a candidate for appointment as dean. Petr Hanáček is the head of the Department of Intelligent Systems, chairman of the Academic Senate of BUT and performs other functions within FIT and the entire BUT.

His goal is to contribute to the development of the faculty as an important and recognized educational and research center that is open to cooperation with other faculties, Czech and foreign universities, research institutions, companies and the public sphere.

Speech@FIT Celebrates Double Publication Success in Prestigious Magazine

The renowned IEEE Signal Processing Magazine has recently published not one, but two articles authored by researchers from Speech@FIT research group:

In Issue 3, an article titled "Neural Target Speech Extraction: An Overview" by the PhD graduate, Kateřina Žmolíková, was featured. She collaborated with colleagues from NTT in Japan and Tencent in the United States. You can reed her article here: https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/10113382.

In Issue 5, the magazine published an article "Twenty-Five Years of Evolution in Speech and Language Processing" by world-leading experts in speech and language processing, including Lukáš Burget and Honza Černocký from our Faculty, who provided insights on speaker and language recognition. Summer IT School Inspires High School Girls to Explore Technology

In the last week of August, our Faculty was buzzing with energy as the Summer IT School for Girls unfolded. This traditional event drew 35 enthusiastic high school girls from across the Czech Republic, providing them with an opportunity to discover the fun side of computer science.

The program featured activities such as programming robots, creating mobile applications, and even experimenting with 3D printing, allowing the students to explore various aspects of the IT world in a hands-on way. One of the highlights was a meeting with female IT professionals from leading tech companies who shared their experiences and career stories.

The Summer IT School for Girls at FIT not only opens up new horizons for high school girls but also provides a platform for future IT female professionals.

Winners Revealed in Booster Challenge 2023 Competition

12 September 2023

The Booster Challenge 2023 competition has announced its champions. Mário Havran and Dominik Klement claimed the top spot with their project VOLTEEK, winning a prize of 60,000 CZK. Their modular Battery Control System (BCS) impressed judges with its technical excellence and market potential.

Jakub Mašek and Martin Zelenák secured second place with their "Wireless Timer for Fire Attack," and Marko Poľanský received recognition for "Bazoš bot."

The Booster Challenge is a part of the Star(t)up@FIT project, which aims at supporting student entrepreneurs in transforming their ideas into successful ventures.

Congratulations to the winners, driving innovation and entrepreneurship forward.
