Information

Language Theory with Applications 2021 (Logo)

  • Subject: Formal language theory and its applications in computer science
  • Place: FIT BUT, Brno, Czech Republic
  • Date: December 13 - 16, 2021
  • Conference language: English, Czech
  • Coverage:
    • LTA 2021 offers a variety of scientific talks on formal language theory and its computer-related applications at MSc and PhD levels. A special attention is paid to modern applications related to the language translation. Most of the talks results from the students' work in the TID, RGD and VYPa classes taught at FIT BUT.
  • Style:
    • Talks are presented so they clearly and quickly explain their significance to today's computer science. As a result, in some instances, results and their proofs may be merely outlined in an informal way. LTA does not tolerate presentations that hide their shallow contents behind exotic pictures.
  • Purpose: The purpose of this event is three-fold:
    1. demonstrating the TID, RGD, and VYPa student work in public;
    2. giving students the opportunity of presenting scientific talks in English;
    3. improving communication between students and teachers interested in the subject of the conference.
  • Audience: Everybody is welcome to attend this event without any prior notice. There is no payment. Please, everybody needs to wear a face mask during the lectures.

Main Lecture: About Life and Work of Alan Turing (CZ)

  • Title: Alan Mathison Turing - Život a dílo
  • Speaker: Radek Tesař, FIT, VUT
  • Language: česky/Czech
  • Abstract: Přednáška o Alanu Turingovi bude rozdělena na následující části:
    • Období před válkou - doba od jeho narození do 1938. Jeho školní léta, doktorát na univerzitě v Princetownu, jeho nejznámější článek ”On Computable Numbers, with an Application to the Entscheidungsproblem“ z roku 1936, kde zavádí pojem Turingova stroje.
    • Období druhé světové války - zaměření na kryptografii, kryptoanalýza německé Enigmy. Popis činnosti Enigmy a princip její kryptoanalýzy. První elektronický počítač na světě - Colossus. V tomto období nemohl Turing své objevy publikovat, protože až do 70. let dvacátého století šlo o přísně tajné informace. Bylo to jeho nejšťastnější a nejplodnější období.
    • Riemannova hypotéza a funkce Zeta.
  • Date: Wednesday, December 15, 2021, 12:30 - 13:30
  • Room: E112; alternatively to on-site attendance, you can see the lecture as part of streamming of IFJ lectures
  • Additional Materials:
