Software Defined Monitoring: Nový prístup k monitorovaniu vysokorýchlostných počítačových sietí
FPGA, Software Defined Monitoring, high-speed networks, network monitoring
Constant increases in speeds of network links, together with the rising importance of application layer data for monitoring lead to necessity of a new concept of hardware acceleration of network data processing. In dissertation Software-Controlled Network Traffic Monitoring is therefore proposed and evaluated a new concept of hardware acceleration of network monitoring called Software Defined Monitoring (SDM). Basic idea of SDM concept lies in tight connection of software monitoring applications with high-performance hardware accelerator that preprocesses network traffic. The software applications can easily control the level of details retained by the preprocessing for each network flow. This way, the measurement of bulk/uninteresting traffic is offloaded to the accelerator, while only the advanced monitoring over the interesting traffic is performed in the software. The proposed SDM concept allows one to practically realize flexible monitoring with deep packet inspection support at very high throughput - even 100 Gbps.
