Monitoring of IoT Devices Using SNMP
Krajč Patrik, Ing. (FIT BUT)
Internet of Thing, network monitoring, SNMP
Internet of Things is a network composed of various physical devices like sensors, actuators and smart gadgets connected to a network. IoT devices are usually implemented with constrained hardware and software possibilities that prevents full communication over TCP/IP stack. Thus, to monitor IoT
devices, we cannot use standard network monitoring and management tools.
This report summarizes our experiments with IoT monitoring using SNMP proxy agent that accesses monitoring data by parsing MQTT messages or reading IoT gateway log files. It also presents MIB templates for IoT MIB objects that can be suitable for monitoring typical IoT devices like climate sensors, smart outlets, etc.
