CSP-based Modeling of Emerging Scalable Parallel Computers
Parallel architectures, Remote Store Architecture, StarT-Voyager, modeling, communicating sequential processes
The paper shows that it is possible to make a model and perform simulations of emerging high-performance parallel computers using communicating sequential processes. Two different scalable parallel machines have been selected for modeling. The first is Swiss-T0 machine based on Remote Store Architecture where all communications are done only by writes and all nodes are connected to a common bus. The second is StarT-Voyager which supports several types of message passing mechanisms and all computation nodes are connected by a fat tree network. For demonstration purposes we have simulated a parallel solution of a system of linear equations with the aid of Transim simulation tool.
