Modelling of missing (unknown) information in database and logic simulation languages
database system, logic simulation, missing information, multi-valued logic
The problem of missing information is one that is encountered very frequently in the real word. Therefore modelling techniques should deal with this feature and make possible the user to represent and process it. Representation of real-world data in databases and logic simulation belong to fields where missing or unknown information is usually taken into account. No matter of the fact that there are important differences in missing information representation and processing in databases and logic simulations, there are also some common features and problems that result from the use of the multi-valued logic approach. Some basic properties of the multi-valued logic as adopted for databases and logic simulation and some consequences of using it are disscussed in the paper.
