Abstract

There are many situations in human medicine when it is very complicated to understand condition of patient's body. In this cases, it is helpful to have 3D computer models of human tissues. These models help us to provide better view of patient body and are useful for planning and simulation of surgical procedures. It is also possible to make a real copy of the tissues by using some Rapid Prototyping technology. The real models can be also used for surgery planning and simulations. In our experiments, we have used image data from Computer Tomography and Magnetic Resonance. The aim of this poster is to present our techniques of 3D tissues modeling and real applications of created models in clinical practice, e.g. in Orthopedic Surgery, Stomatology and Plastic Surgery. Correction plastic surgery of a face deformed because of retinoblastoma is presented. The surgery was supported by real correction supplement designed by mirroring from 3D computer face model. In Orthopedic Surgery, planning and simulation of acetabulum replacement surgery is presented. The planning and
simulation was realized on pelvis bone real model. Finally, in Stomatology, autotransplantation of ectopic teeth is shown. The teeth were repositioned onto correct positions and orientations. Recipient alveoli for the teeth are prepared using the teeth real copy models, instead of using the living teeth. The practical applications are supported by project No. MSM6383917201 CZ
and SVC1MO528.
