The paper presents an approach to the classification of textual documents in a collaborative eLearning environment, as it is being applied in the context of the Knowledge Practices Laboratory (KP-Lab) project and further elaborated within the PoZnaT project. Classification and consequent semi-automatic annotation of learning materials as well as automatic concept map creation by means of text mining techniques and NLP methods enable users to organise and share the knowledge in a distributed learning system. Design principles and required functionality of the text mining services are discussed in the paper. The Mining Engine Console is presented as a tool for maintenance and administration of the classification and concept map creation processes. Finally, some initial examples of the classification on a real data and evaluation of the classification tool are described in this paper.
