Zavedení předmětu Typografie a publikování na FIT VUT v Brně
New course, typography and publishing, typesetting, LaTeX.
A new course Typography and publishing was introduced at FIT BUT in the academic year 2005/2006. The course has two aims: (1) to introduce students to typography (i.e. to terminology, principles, and common rules) that is useful regardless which tool is used for typesetting and (2) to make students familiar with the typesetting system LATEX.
The course is facultative for the bachelor's degree study programme Information technology. The course has two crucial parts - six lectures (100 minutes each) and five projects for practicing the subject matters. The students can obtain up to 70 points from projects and up to 30 points from the final test. Students are evaluated by the standard scale and successful students (i.e., those with 50 or more points in total) obtain 4 credits. The course is supported by the following books available for students in the faculty's library: Hanácek, 1996; Kopka, 2003; Mittelbach, 2004; Rybicka, 1999, 2003.
