Abstract

The paper focused on the grammatical evolution is a summarization of theoretical and practical knowledge about a new approach for automatic program development in any language. The used fusion of formal grammer in Backus-Naur form and evolutionary operators inspired by standard genetic algorithms seems to be an interesting technique for the solution of many optimization tasks. It is confirmed by successful application from the area of computer-aided design of 3D objects, prediction of financial markets, symbolic regression and further technical tasks.
